I asked Rick what to draw. ‘A bulb of garlic’, he said. The results were not fit to be seen. So I drew a pepperpot, using colour pencils. Some people do wonderful drawings with colour pencils. Mine look like colouring-in. Still, it’s fun to use different things, and I’m finding out what works well for me and what doesn’t.
Also today – we tried the new Green and Blacks 85% dark chocolate. Oh, my!
Oh! What a cute pepperpot! It looks like so much fun to use. The perspective on the handles is especially nice.
This is neat! I love all the different colors. I love using colored pencils, they’re fun. 🙂
Oh I love these pots – they always remind me of crazy rabbits! Tricky shape to draw!
Jules.
What a nice bright colored pepperpot :)! What kind of colour pencils did you use for this drawing?
You’ve really nailed those handles- the curves are just perfect. I don’t really agree that this looks like coloring in- you’ve got some great highlights, and suggestions of shadows, and those help to make the pepper pot look more convincingly 3 dimensional. I’d like to see this with the shadows a bit more robust- but this is a really fine go with the colored pencils! Post more 🙂
This is actually quite good. Don’t be so hard on yourself. The shape is great even though I’ve never seen anything like it. I’m a sheltered child! lol! Colored pencils can be fun and enjoyable to work with. I don’t think it looks like coloring in. Some people use little circular motions to add the color, that was just too tedious for me. I start with light hatching lines and build up the color and it comes out even and solid. But, sometimes you want lines, so it’s your choice. That’s the beauty of art, you can do what YOU want. Well done!
